Today, I’m sharing my personal system for organizing jewelry with The Tidy Abode. Organizing your jewelry is a quick project that can be completed in a day, and once you have it done, it will make much choosing your accessories much easier and more fun!

I have organized a lot of my own spaces through the years, and this is one of the projects that has had the most impact in my life! Why is that?

First of all, I absolutely love choosing my jewelry every day and because it is more organized, I am no longer neglecting pieces of jewelry that I love but had been pushed to the back of the drawer.

Second and most importantly, it marked a big transition for me. I moved back to California into a smaller home, which meant that the items I had accumulated for years took up more space than my new living space could accommodate. That meant letting go of things that were difficult to let go of during the purge process.

Purging is usually the most difficult part of any organization project because it requires people to say goodbye to belongings. It’s even harder when they cost a lot of money, have sentimental value, or might be of use “some day” in the future. For me, this was definitely the case!

But I did what we do for every client, and I couldn’t be happier with the results!

For the first part of my organization solution, I chose these trays that fit in my drawers, because if I ever want to pull them out to make space, they can also be stacked as you can see above!

Best of all, they have the same outside dimensions, but inside they have different sized compartments to accommodate the different pieces of jewelry.

Earrings and small necklaces were placed in the small grid trays, which each hold 35 items. The larger trays were great for bracelets, watch bands, and pieces that were in jewelry bags. There are also tray options for rings, sunglasses, and other items, but I did not need those.

Even though I put away most of my jewelry in the drawer, I had lots of larger necklaces and earrings that I wanted to keep on display without taking up too much wall or counter space. Plus, I wanted to keep some pieces more accessible since I wear them more often. Enter the jewelry tree!

There were plenty of gorgeous jewelry stands and trees that either had very little storage, were inconvenient to use, or were super expensive. I liked this one because it was functional and easy to customize, but when I put all my jewelry on it, the bonus was that it looked really great!

When you organize your jewelry, you may want to combine different storage options to suit your needs. I used both hidden storage with my jewelry tray drawers and on-display storage with the jewelry tree.

Hopefully we gave you some inspiration for your own jewelry organization and let us know how your project turns out!

Happy organizing!
