You know how you see an “After” photo and you are impressed, but then you see the “Before” and you can hardly believe it? Well, this is one of those projects for us! We took on the task of organizing this very messy medicine cabinet and the results were great!
When we first saw the medicine cabinet that we were going to organize, it looked like this below. The client told us she had just thrown some expired medicine away, but she knew it was still a mess. In fact, it was so full that there were bottles not everything fit in the cabinet and there were extra bottles on the counter that couldn’t fit!
We followed the same steps we told you about in How To Organize Your Medicine Cabinet. We pulled everything out, purged all of the expired medication, and sorted into groups.
Then, we chose containers! When we gave our client the option of clear or white, she liked both but preferred to have everything hidden away and labeled. Therefore, we picked a combination of the two that worked for the space!
Also, she told us that her husband had a bad habit of sticking items into any open tub even if it didn’t fit, so we decided that the majority of the storage would need to have lids. The containers below are what we came up with and they only cost a few dollars each!
For the categories, we decided on what would be the best ones after sorting through everything. Then we put every item in the appropriate container!
One of our favorite parts of the organization project were these small containers below where we put all of the band-aids and alcohol pads. Putting smaller clear containers into larger ones can keep things even more organized!
Take a look at the perfectly organized band-aids below. Super cute, right? 😊
Lastly, we made custom vinyl labels and made sure everything was in the right place. Because our client and her husband were older, we created the labels in a large, easy-to-read font. In other places, it may be appropriate to have creative, cute fonts, but this medicine cabinet needed to be practical and our clients appreciated it!
When putting the containers away, we placed the most used items on the bottom shelf and the least used ones on top. Much more practical and easy!
Everything is so much more accessible and easy to find now. Now, at the most the client only needs to move one tub in order to get to what she wants. In fact, the blue First Aid kit on the top shelf was actually in the same place but practically inaccessible because of everything piled on top! What a difference an organization session makes. 🙌
We hope this gives you inspiration for your medicine cabinet project!
